Mesa Kha

Flamesinger, Fireborn Hero

Details

History

Much of the young Kha's history is the same as most born on the Steppe: a constant, daily struggle to survive. Though she loved her tribe and its people dearly, there was always a quiet yearning for more than hunting, gathering, and defending the camp from would-be raiders--she wanted to perform. To entertain. To give life to the music that swelled in her heart seemingly since birth. When she was given that opportunity by her mother's desire to relocate the family to Eorzea? She leapt at the chance and swiftly integrated herself into the realm's maddeningly diverse cultures and customs. New stories to absorb; new instruments to learn; new faces to meet. The young musician eagerly greeted each possibility with a warm, friendly grin.Little did she know that she'd find a new vocation amidst the sprawl of her new home; to become a music-playing champion of the realm.

Skillset

Though barely into her twenties, the young Xaela has seen more than her fair share of battle--the Steppe inducting her into the ways of war early on. From fending off raiding parties to surviving in blood-drenched killing fields? The Xaela's no stranger to her people's bread and butter. Her trip to Eorzea was supposed to distance her from such things, at her mother's desire, but the call to defend and protect sat well within Mesa's heart. Soon it began as adventuring. Then it became throwing herself into liberation efforts. Now? She travels the realm as a tried-and-true bearer of the Soul Voice--her bardic talent made manifest--doing her best to ease the world's burdens. One song and one shot at a time.Owing much to her lifestyle, as well as a variety of mentors, the song-slinging musician has an aggressive and adaptive skillset best suited for killing targets efficiently with blade or gun--or supporting her allies with inspirational ballads and protective melodies meant to bolster and enhance their strengths.

General Appearance

All this to say that the bard's lifestyle has earned her no few amount of scars, wounds, and once-debilitating injuries. Her body is a canvas to the dangerous jobs and self-sacrifice that frame her days; barely any patch of blue is left untouched. Most jarringly of all is the fact she lost her left arm, now replaced by a well-crafted magitek prosthetic made of blackened metal.Owing to her growing professionalism as a career adventurer, her arms and armor are often kept in impressive condition. No expense was wasted on poor metals, low quality cloth and leather, or blemished gems and materia--it's clear she values high-grade equipment. Her physique is that of lean-muscled warrior that tirelessly works to maintain it, the same as any other tool, leading to the Xaela cutting an imposing--and sometimes intimidating--image.Something that's typically countered by her near-eternal grin, and her deep and friendly laugh.

Hooks

  • She's the former frontwoman for a band known as "Mourning Mayhem." Their style of music was and is often described as a strange mixture of fury, sorrow, and determination--and being the first all Xaela band in Eorzea. Those who can recall her face--or were among the few who remember the early days of the band around its inception during the liberation of Ala Mhigo--may be able to link her to her stage name of "Mourne."

  • She's a known Gridanian-trained Bard--others with similar background, or roots in the Shroud, may know of her. She was often seen training with the newly-established corps before her graduation, or aiding the populace with general mundanities.

  • She has a habit of aiding fledgling adventurers with their first leves, often giving basic tips about general travel and survival. She has taken to leaving her linkpearl contact information with the Guild proper so that aspiring heroes and would-be glory-seekers can contact a veteran. She's also a prolific wanderer who's easy to spot, and is often about in t he world--just look for the sunny Xaela!

  • She's a known lover of drink, and has found herself in more than a few different taverns. In her earlier years? She was even thrown out of them for engaging in less-than-civil disputes.

  • Anybody with a scholar's bent could feasibly know of the bard from her constant and persistent nagging of historians, archaeologists, and storytellers for knowledge. She's been seen scraping together wisdom everywhere from the Ossuary in Ul'dah to even the great libraries of Sharlayan.

  • In recent days, she's become more open about her possession of the Echo. Owing to such a gift, she's also spent time in assisting the Grand Companies in fending off any lingering Primal threats that may still endanger the realm.

Contacts

Baroness Cylia Fleur Arcene Velarieaux

A renowned silversmith and well-to-do noblewoman of Ishgard, Mesa was often seen by the Elezen's side. Whether in Ishgard--adorned in a uniform comprised of the Baronesses house colors--or elsewhere in the world? The pair always seemed to be dressed in warm smiles and ample laughter.. and indulging in more than a few affectionate exchanges.

The Xaela's ever-present companion. Rarely ever leaving Mesa's side, the happy-go-lucky scalekin contents herself by exploring the world and chomping on the odd insect. Oddly enough? She's seemingly smart enough to recognize words--and responds with an aptly-coined "Kiwi-ism."

Fah'ren Tohlesa

Though not much older than the Xaela herself, Fah'ren stands as her general advisor and guide in all matters pertaining to leadership. A shared history of strife and war--in doing what's needed to preserve the peace--has given them a unique bond. One they seem to like exploring with copious amounts of ammunition and barbeque.

An enigmatic warrior and scholar both, this towering soul stands as both a guilt-driven protector of the world--and best friend to the bard herself. Through Heavens and Hells? They've vowed to always have each other's backs. No matter the cost.

Tavros Algol

Irene

As mysterious as she is a workaholic, this strange Duskwight is still one of Mesa's closest friends and confidants. When the Xaela needs both a guiding hand and firm words of reality-shaking merit? The bard knows she can find both in the Gleaner.

An occasional meeting between the two was enough to earn the Bard's respect of the Ejinn--and some sympathy. Mesa strives to help the wayward nomad find their balance within Eorzea's ever-shifting spheres.

OOC

Now for some OOC information! Hello there!

  • I pretty much exclusively play on the Crystal Data Center, and you'll often find me on Balmung or Mateus (usually the latter these days).

  • My playtime is generally in the evenings, EST, going from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

  • While a lot of my time is spent RPing, I'm also big into doing content! If you need a DPS to help run you through anything, wanna farm some glamour, etcetera? Happy to help!

  • I'm a pretty big, and firm, believer in keeping OOC separate from IC. I get that bad days can happen; real life and feelings bleeding through will happen. All I ask is that you don't make it a habit--or use it as an excuse consistently.

  • I tend to prefer all sorts of RP! Dark and mature, silly and wholesome slice of life, thrilling combat situations... all I ask is that for anything major? I'd like consultation first. No losing limbs suddenly, holding my character hostage without my consent, that sort of thing.

  • I won't do anything that's non-consensual, and anything related to minors or underaged characters getting sexualized is an immediate no.

  • And please don't take control of my character away from me with godmodding. I put a lot of effort into them.
